Your final design meeting is where the remaining details come together. We’ll confirm your materials and finishes, refine any outstanding design decisions, and make sure everything is ready before ordering materials and preparing for construction.
Before Your Final Design Meeting
Final Measurement Meeting
Before your final design meeting, we'll return to your home to take final field measurements. While we take careful measurements during your initial consultation, this second visit allows us to verify that the proposed design fits the space exactly before materials are ordered.
We'll also take a closer look at details that may not have been fully visible during the first visit, such as soffits, plumbing and electrical locations, HVAC vents, wall conditions, panels, and any other existing conditions that could affect the final design or installation. This extra step helps us catch potential issues early and gives us confidence that everything is ready before ordering materials.
Check Your Township Requirements
Every township is different. Permit requirements, applications, fees, and approval processes can vary depending on where you live and the scope of your project.
Before your final design meeting, we recommend contacting your local municipality to determine what, if any, permits or paperwork will be required for your remodel. If your township provides forms that require contractor information, please bring them to your final design meeting. We'll complete our portions together so everything is ready for submission.
Shop for Appliances
Before your final design meeting, we ask that you have your appliance selections narrowed down. You do not need to purchase them before the meeting, but we do need to know the models you plan to use so we can review the specifications and ensure your cabinetry is designed to fit them properly.
If you're working with a local appliance retailer, such as Allentown Appliance, Kleckner & Sons, or Prestige Appliance, simply let your salesperson know you're working with Kreative Kitchens. They'll typically send us the appliance specifications directly, making the process easy for everyone.
If you do decide to purchase your appliances before construction begins, don't worry about storing them. Most appliance retailers will hold your order until it's time for delivery, so your appliances can arrive when they're ready to be installed.
Map Out Your New Kitchen
Before your final design meeting, we encourage you to spend a little time thinking about how you'll use your new kitchen. If possible, print a copy of your 3D rendering and imagine yourself working in the space.
You don't need to have every cabinet figured out. We'll walk through all of that together. Instead, start by making a simple list of the items you'll need to store. Even a general idea helps us discuss the best storage solutions and make thoughtful adjustments before the design is finalized.
As you sit in your current kitchen, think about where you naturally reach for things and what you'd like to improve in your new one. Consider items such as:
• Dinnerware and glassware
• Mugs and water bottles
• Silverware and cooking utensils
• Pots, pans, and lids
• Mixing bowls and baking supplies
• Spices and cooking oils
• Food storage containers
• Cutting boards and baking sheets
• Foil, plastic wrap, and storage bags
• Dish towels and cleaning supplies
• Small appliances
• Trash and recycling
• Miscellaneous or "junk" drawer items
During your final design meeting, we'll also discuss interior storage options, such as pull-out trash, spice storage, tray dividers, drawer organizers, and other accessories to help create a kitchen that's not only beautiful, but functional for the way you live.
During Your Final Design Meeting
Your final design meeting is very similar to your initial design meeting, but with a greater focus on the details. Rather than establishing the overall layout, we'll be confirming the remaining selections, refining cabinet details, reviewing appliance specifications, discussing interior storage, and making sure every part of the design is ready before materials are ordered.
Part One: Confirm Your Design
During this part of the meeting, we'll review your kitchen cabinet by cabinet, refining the details that make the space work for your everyday life. This is where we'll discuss things like whether a cabinet should have drawers or doors, where a tall pantry cabinet makes the most sense, how wide drawers should be, and which interior storage accessories will best fit your needs.
We'll use the storage ideas you thought through beforehand to help guide these decisions. The goal is to make sure every cabinet is designed with purpose, so your kitchen isn't just beautiful, it's functional for the way you live.
The Goal of Part One
The goal of Part One is to finalize the functionality of your kitchen. Together, we'll confirm cabinet configurations, interior storage, appliance placement, and other design details that determine how the space will work on a daily basis.
By the end of this portion of the meeting, the overall design should be fully refined and ready to move into the final materials and finishes phase.
PartTwo: Confirm Your Materials & Finishes
Once the design has been finalized, we'll turn our attention to confirming the materials and finishes that complete your kitchen. Together, we'll review your cabinetry, countertops, flooring, backsplash, hardware, plumbing fixtures, and any remaining selections to ensure everything works together as a cohesive design.
This is where we'll finalize details such as countertop edge profiles, backsplash layout, grout color, hardware finishes, and whether you'd prefer knobs, pulls, or a combination of both. These finishing touches may seem small on their own, but together they have a significant impact on the overall look and feel of your kitchen.
If you begin to feel overwhelmed by the number of decisions, that's perfectly okay. Decision fatigue is real, and we'd much rather schedule a second meeting than rush through important selections. Our goal is for you to feel confident in every decision before materials are ordered.
The Goal of Part Two
The goal of Part Two is to finalize as many materials and finishes as you're comfortable with before ordering begins. While we'd love to confirm everything during this meeting, some selections naturally take a little more time, and that's okay.
If you'd like to explore additional options, such as backsplash tile, we can always schedule another meeting with you at one of our local suppliers. We'd much rather take the time to make thoughtful decisions than rush through important selections.
What Happens Next?
After your final design meeting, we'll update your drawings and proposal to reflect all of the decisions made together. You'll receive a finalized set of drawings, a complete list of your selections, and an updated proposal reflecting any changes made throughout the design process.
Before we place any material orders, we'll ask you to review and approve everything one final time. This final approval ensures you're confident in every detail before your project moves into ordering and preparation for construction.
