What to Expect at Your
Design Meeting
Your design meeting is where your new kitchen begins to take shape. We typically approach the meeting in two parts: first, we’ll walk through your proposed design and explore the space through a 3D rendering. Then, we’ll begin looking at materials and finishes to start bringing the overall look and feel of the kitchen together.
How Long Should You Set Aside For the Design Meeting?
We recommend setting aside up to two hours for your design meeting. Some meetings may take less time, but allowing for a two-hour window gives us time to thoughtfully review your design, hear your feedback, and explore materials and finishes without feeling rushed.
We typically try to keep meetings within that two-hour window, as reviewing a new design and making selections can involve a lot of information and decisions at once.

Before Your Design Meeting
Everyone comes to us at a different stage in the planning process. Some homeowners have folders full of inspiration, while others are starting with a blank slate. That's perfectly okay! The suggestions below are simply meant to help you prepare and get the most out of your design meeting, but none of them are required.

Don’t worry about memorizing it or making any decisions ahead of time. During Part Two of your design meeting, we’ll review cabinetry with you in person, answer questions, and guide you toward options that make sense for your design, priorities, and comfortable investment range.

During Your Design Meeting
Part One: Explore Your Design
We’ll begin by revealing the design developed from what we learned during your in-home consultation. Using a 3D rendering, we’ll walk through the proposed layout together, explore the space from different angles, and explain the thinking behind key design decisions.
This is a collaborative conversation. We want to hear what you love, what you’re unsure about, and anything you’d like to explore differently. Seeing the space in 3D often makes it easier to react to ideas and possibilities that can be difficult to picture from a floor plan alone.
The Goal of Part One
The goal of Part One is to establish the overall layout of your kitchen, where major elements such as appliances, the sink, cabinetry, islands, and seating will be located, and how the space will flow.
At this stage, we’re focused on the big picture rather than every individual cabinet detail. Questions like whether a particular cabinet should have doors, drawers, or specialized storage can continue to be refined as the design develops.
Part Two: Materials & Finishes
Once we’ve explored the layout, we’ll shift our focus to the materials and finishes that begin shaping the overall look and feel of your kitchen. Together, we’ll explore cabinetry styles and finishes, countertop options, and how different materials work together within the design.
This is also where your comfortable investment range helps guide the conversation. We’ll recommend materials and options that make sense for both your design goals and overall project range, helping you understand where it may be worth investing more and where a more practical selection may serve you just as well.
Depending on the project and how far we get, we may also begin exploring backsplash tile, hardware, flooring, plumbing fixtures, and other finishes. There is no expectation that every selection needs to be finalized in one meeting. We’ll help narrow the options and guide you toward choices that work together.
The Goal of Part Two
Our primary goal in Part Two is to select, or at least narrow down, your cabinetry, countertops, and flooring. These are significant components of the overall project and give us the foundation needed to begin developing a more accurate proposal.
If time and decision-making energy allow, we can continue exploring additional finishes. We would rather make thoughtful selections than rush through decisions simply to check every box.
What Happens Next?
After your design meeting, we’ll document the selections and decisions we made together and begin preparing a detailed quote for your project. We’ll then schedule a Quote Meeting to review the project scope, proposed materials and selections, and overall investment together.
